The Biology Teachers Network was established in 1990 to help biology teachers support each other in their teaching practice. In December 2015 the Biology Teachers Network was incorporated and hence has a Constitution and is now The Biology Teachers Network Inc.
The Biology Teachers Network (or Biology Network) meets a couple of times a term to hear academics talk on their special areas of interest, share teaching and learning ideas and resources, and keep up to date and provide feedback regarding curriculum changes.
The aim of the Biology Teachers Network is to assist teachers, both new and old, to improve the way Biology is taught to our students.
The purposes of the association are to:
- assist in the development of excellence in biology teaching;
- raise the profile of biology teaching as a profession;
- raise the profile of science and biology careers for students; and
- promote scientific literacy throughout school communities.
